Steve Keen files for commissioner seat

12 March 2008 — Steve Keen, Wayne County businessman and resident of Rosewood, has officially filed to run for the Wayne County Board of Commissioners in District 4. District 4, currently represented by Republican Efton Sager, includes Rosewood, Grantham, Oakland, Mar-Mac, Dobbersville and part of Mt. Olive. Sager has filed to run for the NC House this year, making District 4 an open seat for election on the Commission.

Steve Keen, a native of neighboring Johnston County, has resided in the Wayne County community of Rosewood for 30 years. An entrepreneur and local businessman, Keen is the former owner of Adam’s Auto Wash in Goldsboro and Greenville. Concerned with business growth, infrastructure and education within the county, Keen, a Republican, has pledged to focus his attention and efforts toward public school needs, comprehensive land use planning, agriculture, and business and industry recruitment.

“Wayne County is a big business, with a population of approximately 113,850 residents covering an area of 557 square miles. We must be determined and persistent in encouraging, yet effectively managing, growth in the county. The Board of Commissioners has a responsibility to serve the residents of Wayne County, while providing the very best quality of life for those who live and visit here,” Keen said.

“I can bring to the Board of Commissioners unlimited and unrestricted time with a servants heart. Representing District 4 on the Board would be a true honor.”

A graduate of Princeton High School, Steve Keen is a veteran of the United States Navy. He currently sits on the Wayne County Planning Board and on the local Board of Directors of the Little Bank. Additionally, he holds a seat on the Executive Board of the “Pirate Club” at East Carolina University. Married to wife Beverly, the couple has two children, Blair and Adam. They are members of Rosewood First Baptist Church, where Keen serves as both a Sunday School teacher and Deacon.
