Bulldogs outlast Raiders on road, 6-5

19 March 2008 — The Princeton baseball team is starting to come together, but there are still some rough spots along the way.

The Bulldogs dropped a 7-3 decision at Fike last Tuesday, but took a 6-5 win at Midway Friday.

In the loss at Fike, Ryan Daughtry went 4-4 with two doubles, an rbi and a run scored, but the Demon pitcher was able to keep the rest of the lineup in check.

Christopher Hinton took the loss, giving up three earned runs on six hits and one walk.
Friday the Bulldogs survived a tough night in the field, committing eight errors. Daughtry pitched the first five innings, striking out five and giving up three walks while allowing four singles. Hinton came on to finish off the last four with four strike outs and giving up no walks while allowing only three hits. Hinton picked up the win.

Benton Myers stroked the winning rbi single in the seventh after Jacobs led off the inning with a double.

Myers ended the game with three hits including a double. Jacobs had two hits, and Michael Radford had two hits including a triple.

The split leaves Princeton at 2-4 in the young season.

The Bulldogs had a JV-varsity doubleheader scheduled at Union on Tuesday, and were to host Fike on Wednesday in their final games before the Easter break.

Next Thursday and Friday they host their annual Deacon Jones Invitational. Princeton will open the tourney against Dixon at 4, and Rosewood and Spring Creek will play at 7. The two losers from the first round will play at 4 p.m. on Friday, and the two winners will meet in the championship on Friday.
