Baptists plan mission work
26 March 2008 — Members of Princeton Baptist Church are becoming more active in mission work after their pastor laid down a challenge.
Calling it the Acts 1:8 Challenge, Pastor Dwayne Batten sent out $1 bills to 300 church members, asking them to use the money in whatever way they could to enhance God’s Kingdom. Around $5000 came back to the church during a celebration last month.
They are using the money as seed money for a number of mission projects this month and in coming months.
The youth from the church are going to Grifton for disaster relief this Thursday through Saturday.
In June, the church will participate in a new church construction in Honduras.
In July they will be part of a trip to Poland to work on a Jewish cemetery part of Project Nehemiah.
Later in July they will work on a home in West Virginia for women coming out of drug rehabilitation where they can live with their children.
Next month on April 19 they will hold a Project Inasmuch Day, where they will be doing good neighbor projects around town.
They are sponsoring a Blood Drive on May 25.
They are hosting Helping Hands Ministries once a month.
In cooperation with Johnston Baptist Association, they are helping sponsor a medical/dental bus in August to serve underserved areas of the county.
One of the ladies of the church responding to the challenge was Pat Hines who stitched together the quilt pattern “A Trip Around the World” as a fund raiser project. Other ladies in the church are helping to finish off the quilt that will be auctioned off in a silent auction. Bidders are asked to call the church at 936-4001 with their bid, name and phone number. Bidding will end on April 28th.
The church will have a chicken pastry supper this Sunday to raise money for the Honduras trip.
