Lady Bulldogs take down North Duplin

09 April 2008 — The Princeton Lady Bulldogs began their conference schedule with a win at North Duplin Friday, 4-2.

The Princeton girls played tough defense behind pitchers April Keene and Traci Bridgers. Keene gave up a solo homer and one other hit in five innings of work. She struck out six and only walked one. She handed over a 2-1 lead to Bridgers, who allowed only one hit and one run in her two innings on the mound.

Jessica Smith had a double and an rbi, and Tylan George had a double and two rbi. Brittany Baker got the other rbi on a single, while Hannah Wood and Rebecca Harlan each added singles in the five hit Princeton attack.

The Lady Dawgs scored two in the third, allowed the solo homer in the fifth, and scored two more in the seventh to make the lead 4-1. After Bridgers gave up a Lady Rebel run in the seventh, she shut the door for the win.

The win evened Princeton’s mark at 4-4 in all games.

Princeton was scheduled to play at North Johnston Tuesday and at Ayden-Grifton on Friday as league play heats up. Next Tuesday they travel to Rosewood.
