Rosewood tops Ayden-Grifton

09 April 2008 — The Eagles baseball team kept their hot streak alive last Wednesday, topping Ayden-Grifton in a 6-2 win.

Thursday North Johnston and the elements rained on their parade in an 11-2 pasting at the Eagles’ Nest.

The split marked the first two games of the conference race for Rosewood.

Wednesday Taylor Allen brought his “A” game to the mound, and the senior was dominating with a ten strike out performance against the Chargers. A-G could only solve him for three hits on the afternoon, and Allen allowed just four walks. He gave up single runs in the fifth and sixth.

The Eagles once again capitalized on a shaky start by the opposing pitcher, getting three runs home in the first on one hit. A-G gave up three errors during the game.

Matt Neal had the big blow for the Eagles, stroking a bases-loaded triple in the top of the sixth to boost the Eagle lead to 6-1.

Holt Rains got two hits for Rosewood.

While defense and timely hitting keyed Wednesday’s win, neither were there Thursday.

The Panthers were able to keep Rosewood from making many dents in the plate, as the NJ defense stranded Rosewood runner after Rosewood runner.

The Panthers held a 4-1 lead going into the top of the fourth when the Rosewood defense yielded four errors and NJ capitalized for seven runs.

A steady rain that was there from the start got worse, and the umpires put an end to the misery in the sixth.

Neal got two hits for the Eagles, as did Robert Franks and Will Beasley.

Rosewood was back in action Tuesday, hosting Spring Creek
