16 April 2008 – According to Princeton Police Department Records, Sophia Denise Allen of 117 Buckhorn Dr. in Middlesex was charged with failure to stop and speeding to elude on April 9 at 1:09 a.m. The arrest was made at 1769 Princeton-Pikeville Road in Pikeville.
Ms. Allen was held at Johnston County Jail until 4:15 a.m., a $30,000 bond was paid for her release. Ms. Allen will go to trial in the Johnston County Courthouse in Princeton on May 7.
On the above date and time, the officer observed a white two-door Oldsmobile Cutlass traveling north on Pine Street towards Donnie H. Jones Blvd. The vehicle fit the description of a suspicious vehicle seen at 206 West Second Street. An unidentified black female was driving the vehicle. The office pulled behind the vehicle and activated blue lights and siren on the patrol vehicle.
The vehicle failed to stop for the officer and failed to stop at a stop sign on Donnie H. Jones Blvd. In the pursuit, the vehicle failed to stop at signals and traveled at 90 miles an hour.
The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office was contacted as the vehicle crossed county lines. The vehicle stopped at Northwest Elementary School, located on 1769 Princeton-Pikeville Road in Pikeville.
The suspect abandoned the vehicle and the Wayne County K-9 Unit tracked the suspect and located her in a crop field behind the school. The suspect was arrested and taken into custody.
Less than half an ounce of marijuana was found in the vehicle. A black tube with marijuana odor was found on the suspect’s person.
The suspect was identified as Sophia Denise Allen of 117 Buckhorn Rd. in Middlesex.
The license plate was confirmed to be fictitious and not registered to the vehicle.
