Eric Martel crossed home in the sixth after being hit by a pitch and advanced by a hit from teammates Scott Pate and Robert Franks.
Pate took advantage of a wild pitch and stole home cutting the Eagles’ deficit to two.
Franks and Allen each went one for four at bat.
Rains plated two runners and went one for three.
Steven Bostic went one for three at bat while Will Beasley went one for four. Scott Rose went two for four.
About Friday’s game, Rosewood Coach Josh Smith said, “We’re trying to find our identity. We’re a great ball club with great young men who give it all they’ve got. We just dug ourselves a hole a couple of times and we just can’t really seem to fight our way back.”
He added, “It’s a great group of men and they fight hard every day for me and I’d go to war with them any day.”
On Tuesday, April 8, the Eagles soared to Seven Springs to take on the Spring Creek High School Gators in a conference dual.
Rosewood returned home with a 7-6 victory.
The Eagles gained a 3-1 lead early in the game.
In the fourth inning, they climbed ahead 7-1 when Rains drove home two runners with a double to centerfield.
Rains advanced home on Cody Richards’ homer to center.
The Gators battled back with two runs in the fifth and three in the sixth.
Rosewood, 7-7 overall, will host Ayden-Grifton High School on Friday, April 18 at 7 p.m.
