Lady Bulldogs on point at Rosewood

23 April 2008 — The visiting Lady Bulldogs of Princeton High School nipped the Rosewood High School Lady Eagles 1-0 in 1A Carolina Conference varsity softball Tuesday.

Princeton broke open a deadlocked game in the sixth inning when April Keene led off with a single to left field She reached third on an error and advanced home on a passed ball.

Keene struck out four batters in six innings on the mound. Traci Bridgers closed out for the Lady Bulldogs with one strike out.
Princeton’s Rebecca Harlan went two for three at bat with one single and one double.

Ashley Braswell contributed two singles and went two for four at bat. Tylan George went one for three and had one single.

Princeton Coach Terry Braswell said, “We played some good defense, but we’ve got to work on our bats.”

Rosewood’s Haley Meadows allowed seven hits and one run in seven innings. She retired 10 batters.

Lady Eagle Coach, Tracey Meadows said, “I am pleased that the hitting has increased, errors have decreased.”

“I’m very proud of my team, they’re continuing to work hard through the seventh inning instead of quitting which is really big. We’ve just got to hit the ball.”

Princeton is currently undefeated in the conference, 4-0, and 7-4 overall and will host county and conference foe, North Johnston High School, on Friday, April 25 at 7 p.m. and will travel to Ayden-Grifton High School the following Tuesday also at 7 p.m.

Rosewood is currently 2-2 in the conference and will travel to Seven Springs on Friday, April 25 to take on their conference and county rival, the Spring Creek High School Lady Gators. Game time is 7 p.m. On Monday, April 28, Rosewood will visit Farmville Central High School for a make-up game.

The Lady Eagles will go head-to-head with North Duplin Jr./Sr. High School at home on Tuesday, April 29 at 7 p.m.
