Candidates in primary elections
30 April 2008 — Johnston County residents will vote in the primaries on May 6 this year. Registered nonpartisans, Republicans, and Democrats can vote for either Jewel Ann Farlow, Dean R. Poirier, or James A. (Jim) Wynn for Court of Appeals Judge, Sam J. Ervin, IV, Janet Pueschel, Kristin Ruth, or John M. Tyson for Court of Appeals Judge, Gary W. Ragland, Kayley Taber, or Charles Bullock for District Court Judge District 11, and Allan C. DeLaine, Paul A. Holcombe, or George R. Murphy for District Court Judge District 11.
Registered Democrats can also vote in the primaries for Hillary Clinton, Mike Gravel, Barack Obama, or No Preference for President; Kay Hagan, Dustkin C. Lassiter, Jim Neal, Howard Staley, or Marcus W. Williams for US Senate; for Governor, Richard H. Moore, Dennis Nielsen, or Bev Perdue; for Lieutenant Governor, Walter H. Dalton, Hampton Dellinger, Pat Smathers, or Dan Besse; for Auditor, Beth A. Wood or Fred Aikens; for Commissioner of Insurance, Wayne Goodwin or David C. Smith; for Commissioner of Labor, Mary Fant Donnan, Ty Richardson, Robin Anderson, or John C.
