Spivey, Stevens wed in Pikeville

30 April 2008 — Casey Leann Spivey of Princeton and Michael Douglas Stevens of Goldsboro exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony April 19, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Pikeville Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church with the Reverend Doctor Donald G. Sauls officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ronnie L. Spivey of Camden, NC and the granddaughter of  William A. Davis, Sr. of Shawboro, NC and the late Iva R. Davis and Irene C. Spivey of Tyner, NC and the late Adolph M. Spivey.

She is a 2003 graduate of Camden High School, Camden, NC and a 2007 graduate of North Carolina Wesleyan College with a B.S. degree in Exercise Science.  She is employed at the Wayne County Cooperative Extension Service.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard D. Stevens of Goldsboro.  He is the grandson of Mrs.  Janet Stevens of Goldsboro and the late Sam Stevens and the late Thomas Sandy Bizzell and Hazel P. Bizzell.

He is a 2001 graduate of Charles B. Aycock High School and a 2005 graduate of North Carolina Wesleyan College with a B.S. degree in Business Administration. He is employed at SouthCo. Distributing Company.

The bride was escorted by her father and presented in marriage by her family.

For her wedding the bride chose a formal gown of diamond white Italian satin. The gently curved strapless neckline featured vertical pleating paired with a fitted bodice embellished with bugle beading and crystals entwined in a floral motif that extended to a natural waist.  The full A line skirt was enhanced with a matching bugle and crystal beaded pattern bordering the hemline of the gown and the chapel train.

She wore a single tiered veil of diamond white illusion trimmed with delicate diamond cut bugle beading.  Her veiling fell to a fingertip length.

Her bridesmaids wore tea length dresses of fuchsia chiffon.  The gowns featured strapless sweetheart necklines with A line skirts cinched at the waists with satin tangerine sashes.

The bride carried a clutch bouquet of elegant lilies, mombo roses, gerber daisies, freesia, sasflower and heather, with dendrobium orchids scattered throughout the bouquet.

Keri Beth Spivey, sister of the bride of Camden was maid of honor.

Bridesmaids were Mary Ashley Gordon of Princeton, NC, Meredith Carter Batts of Greenville, NC, Jennifer Sutton Suggs of Farmville, NC, Kristin Cartwright Brown of Greenville, NC and Whitney Lauren Ward of Burlington, NC, all friends or college
roommates of the bride.

The groom’s father, Richard D. Stevens of Goldsboro was best man.

Groomsmen were Richard Kevin Stevens, brother of the groom of Goldsboro, Brandon Edward Hart, friend of the groom of Raleigh, NC,  Lucas Winstead Murray, college roommate of the groom of Bailey, NC and Travis Roy Lipcsak, friend of the groom of Goldsboro.

The miniature bride was Miss Hannah Elizabeth Dunn, cousin of the bride of Camden, NC and the miniature groom was Master Davis Kendrick Bradley, cousin of the bride of Moyock, NC.

Master Benjamin Kevin Stevens, nephew of the groom of Goldsboro served as the ring bearer.

A program of wedding music was provided by Kristen Williams, Dolan Williams and James Sauls. Gene Dawson was trumpeter. Jeff Martin served as videographer and sound technician.

Presiding at the register was Mrs. Jennifer W. Stevens, sister- in- law of the groom.  Program attendants were Krystle Goodman of Cape May, New Jersey and Caroline Chewning of Raleigh, NC. Mr. Brian Taylor of Goldsboro was wedding planner and ceremony director.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held in the church fellowship hall.  The reception greeters were Kathy W. Leary and Shelia P. Gordon of Camden, NC.

Patricia A. Davis, aunt of the bride, Stephanie D. Bradley, cousin of the bride and Lorrie D. Dunn, cousin of the bride served punch.  Terry Davis, aunt of the groom and Julie Spivey, aunt of the bride served the wedding cake.  Reception farewells were given by Cathy Bizzell and Jane Bizzell, aunts of the groom.  Lynette Hales was reception director.

Events held prior to the wedding were an ice cream social given by the bride’s parents, Ronnie and Ann Spivey on July 21, 2007 at their home in Camden, NC, an engagement party hosted by the groom’s parents, Richard and Judy Stevens at the bride’s home on September 15, 2007; a lingerie shower February 23 given by Whitney Ward, Kristin Brown and Keri Spivey at the bride’s home; a miscellaneous shower on March 2, given by Judy Stevens, Renee’ Taylor, Margaret Hollowell, Patt Farr, Terry Davis, Margaret Anderson, Frances McFatter, Jennifer Stevens and Michelle Casey at Pikeville Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church; a pantry shower held March 17 at the Cooperative Extension Office in Wayne County and given by co-workers; a miscellaneous shower given by Paula Harrison, Sheila P. Gordon, Kathy W. Leary, Jan S. Cartwright, Suzette C. Ward and Sherry H. Saunders at the home of Sheila Gordon on March 29; a bridesmaid luncheon given by Patricia Davis, Stephanie Bradley, Lorrie Dunn and Keri Spivey and held at The Moratoc, Holiday Inn, Williamston, NC on April 5 and followed by a get-away that evening in Greenville, NC.  The groom was treated to a bachelor weekend at Atlantic Beach on February 22 by the groomsmen.

The groom’s parents held a rehearsal dinner April 18 at the fellowship hall at Pikeville Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church. 

The couple is honeymooning in the Hawaiian Islands and will reside in Princeton.
