Lady Bulldogs shut out Warriors, Eagles

7 May 2008 — April Keene was honored Friday night as the lone senior on the Princeton Lady Bulldog softball team. Then she proved her worth by leading the Dawgs to a 3-0 victory over visiting rival Rosewood Lady Eagles.
Both teams were in a stalemate until the sixth inning, when Keene smacked a three-run homer. Tylan George led off with a walk and advanced to second on a single by Ashley Braswell.
Keene hit the ball up the middle plating George and Braswell and scored when the ball was misplayed.
Bulldog Coach Terry Braswell said Keene played the game in honor of her grandfather, who had passed away that afternoon.
Braswell called Keene’s grandfather “her biggest fan.”
The Lady Bulldogs of Princeton shut out the visiting Eastern Wayne Lady Warriors 1-0 in extra innings in non-conference varsity softball on Wednesday, April 29.
Hannah Wood singled once and went one for four at bat while Rebecca Harlan and Danielle Mitchell both went one for two at bat with one single each. Ashley Braswell went one for three at bat with one single.
In the eighth inning, Wood singled to left center and advanced to second and third on sacrifices. Braswell plated Wood with two outs.
On Tuesday, April 29 the Lady Bulldogs topped the Lady Chargers of Ayden-Grifton 14-2 in 1A Carolina Conference action.
Wood went three for four at bat with two singles and one double. Braswell went three for five with one single and two doubles.
Brittany Baker went two for five with one single and one double while Danielle Mitchell went two for five with one single and one double.
April Keene singled once and went one for three.
Keene had a one-hitter, allowed one run and retired three batters in four innings.
Traci Bridgers struck out one batter.
